Art Basel 50 Years
Art, Archive visualization
In 1970, Basel gallerists Trudl Bruckner, Ernst Beyeler, and Balz Hilt founded an art fair, back then simply known as ‘Art’. Millions of visitors, thousands of exhibitors, and fifty years later, the world has changed enormously – and so has Art Basel.
Yet, the idea on which it was built remains at the core of its identity: a fair by galleries for galleries. In this video, you can (re)discover Art Basel’s milestones, including the addition of new sectors, countless experimental exhibitions, and the expansion to Miami Beach, Hong Kong, and the World Wide Web.
